Heeley City Farm is one of the most successful community-based and led training, employment and youth organisation in the UK having won many national and international awards for its work on sustainable development in the inner city.
The main site in Heeley, in south Sheffield, is a wind and sun powered family visitor attraction with friendly farm animals, relaxing gardens and organic demonstrations on four acres of former derelict land close to the centre of Sheffield. Visitors can also enjoy a Healthy Eating Café, Children’s playground, Garden Centre, excellent recycling facilities and Sheffield’s largest community park with climbing boulder next door!
Started in 1981 it now employs almost 50 people, mostly local and previously unemployed, on a range of environmental and health related community enterprises. A recent development has been the creation of Sheffield Environmental & Horticultural Training providing specialist training, particularly to disadvantaged and marginalised individuals.
Visits can be arranged and expertise offered on a wide range of environmental themes. We are open every day of the year from 9.30 to 4.30 and admission is free, and donations are always welcome.
